You can see just how big my bunion was now that it is gone, compared to my left foot. Dr Connell said it was HUGE, but that everything is healing speedily and nicely (probably so, considering most podiatry patients are geriatric). My scar is looking nice too—yeah! Hopefully my lefty will not need the same construction job—(I’d rather have 2 different looking feet!) I am in week 3 now of recovery, so just 3 more weeks in the boot cast… and I’m back doin' Soul Train! I've been able to sneak out of the boot a little bit 'round the house to give my foot a breather, only because I’m lucky to be doing so well (although I did have a close call today tripping over Waylan's kitchen floor Tupperware party). Best of all, it’s nice to have a regular shower again. I've been sitting on a small Rubbermaid step-stool--water trickling high above my head, somehow losing warmth and vitality by the time it reaches me, while I hold my leg gawkily under the shower curtain-- foot resting on the toilet. I’ve always kept clean toilets, but I’ve never trained them to stay quite so dazzling, until they became my regular bathroom ottomans.
